A tune is where the money is on a modern turbocharged Porsche. On the 3.0L twin-turbo 991.2 and 992, the factory calibration leaves meaningful power on the table — boost, timing and fueling are all set conservatively for global fuel quality and worst-case conditions. Recalibrating for known-good fuel and a healthy engine is the single largest gain available for the money.
Naturally aspirated cars respond differently. Gains are smaller and come mainly from throttle mapping, rev limits and cam timing, which is why NA builds are usually better served by exhaust and suspension first.
Before you buy a tune: your car needs to be mechanically sound. Tuning increases cylinder pressure and driveline load, and it will find a tired coil pack, a leaking intercooler or a marginal clutch faster than stock calibration ever would. Sort the health of the engine first, then tune it.
