aFe Power Magnum FLOW OE Replacement Air Filters with Pro 5R Media replace both factory paper elements in the 991. They drop into the standard airboxes with no modification and aFe measures them at 488 CFM — a 27% increase in flow over the filters they replace.
This is the oiled filter. Pro 5R uses five layers of progressively finer mesh cotton gauze, factory-oiled — the highest-flowing drop-in media aFe makes, and the one to pick if the car sees track days. It is washable and reusable, but both elements have to be cleaned and re-oiled at service intervals with aFe's Pro 5R restore kit. Be sparing with the oil: an over-oiled element can contaminate a mass airflow sensor. If you would rather never think about oil, the identical pair is available in dry synthetic media as Pro DRY S, part number 31-10242.

Note: Part number 30-10242 contains two air filters. The 991 Turbo and Turbo S take a different aFe part number. Clean and re-oil both elements at regular service intervals using aFe's Pro 5R restore kit — oiled-filter cleaner plus blue filter oil. Do not over-oil: excess oil can foul the mass airflow sensor. aFe states this product does not require a CARB EO number.
