The Bilstein B8 Performance Plus front strut assembly, part number 22-052728, is the front strut for a 996 that has already been lowered. A complete monotube gas-pressure strut with a shortened body, valved to control a lowered chassis properly.
For lowered or sport suspension only. Coverage spans the 996 C2 and C4 as well as the Turbo and GT2, 1999-2005. B8 Performance Plus is built specifically to pair with aftermarket lowering springs or factory sport suspension. The shortened body is what makes that work — and it is also why this is the wrong part for a stock-height car. On factory springs a B8 runs out of travel, rides harshly and wears out early. If your 996 sits at factory ride height, buy the B6 Performance front strut assembly instead.
