The Bilstein B8 Performance Plus rear strut assembly, part number 22-046246, is the rear strut for a 986 Boxster that has already been lowered. A complete monotube gas-pressure strut with a shortened body, valved to control a lowered chassis properly.
For lowered or sport suspension only. B8 Performance Plus is built specifically to pair with aftermarket lowering springs or factory sport suspension. The shortened body is what makes that work — and it is also why this is the wrong part for a stock-height car. On factory springs a B8 runs out of travel, rides harshly and wears out early. If your Boxster sits at factory ride height, buy the B6 Performance rear strut assembly instead.
