Every Porsche air filter question eventually comes down to three things: which part number fits, how many the car takes, and whether you want the oiled one or the dry one. This guide answers the first. The other two have their own pages, linked at the bottom.
Everything below is a drop-in replacement for the factory element. Nothing here requires an intake pipe, a heat shield, or a tune. You open the airbox, swap the panel, and close it.

Watch the 718 split. The 982 range uses two completely different engines. Base, T, S and GTS cars run the turbocharged flat-four; the GT4, Spyder and Boxster GTS 4.0 run the naturally aspirated flat-six. They take different filters. Check which engine is in the car before ordering.

On a car this age the argument for a washable filter is less about airflow and more about supply. A element you clean and refit is one part you never have to source again.
Carrera GT
One part number covers the 5.7 V10, supplied as a complete kit: BMC FB420/01. Same reasoning as the transaxle cars, more so.
